Software

Remote Work Tools and Software

Common software and tools you'll come across while working remote.

2FA

2-Factor Authentication is crucial for protecting your accounts and keeping them safe from hackers. As a rule of thumb, you should be using MFA/2FA for every online account you own. For managing 2FA, I would recommend using Authy

VPN

A VPN protects and encrypts your browsing history and allows you to connect to servers around the world. This is particularly important if you are traveling or use public networks. I would recommend using either NordVPN or ExpressVPN.

Google Workspace

When it comes to storage, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, Google Workspace is hands-down the best option.

Slack

At this point, Slack is used by so many teams that it is practically a required business soft skill if you are a working professional.

Zoom

Everyone is using Zoom nowadays, from Fortune 500 companies to your grandparents. And if they can figure it out, so can you.

Project Management

Managing your projects with checklists and to-dos will help you stay focused and productive. I would recommend using Trello or Asana.

Online Workspace

I've been using Notion for building out my personal wiki and public projects. I absolutely love and highly recommend checking it out.

Screenshots and Screen Recording

Gyazo and Loom are awesome for taking quick screenshots and video recordings. If you're working remote, these are invaluable tools for quickly communicating with team members.
